Greetings

I'm Scott Starr — a designer, writer, composer, and photographer based in Milwaukee. My work moves between visual identity, songwriting and sound recording, still photography, motion film, and print. Different disciplines, maybe, but they've always felt like one conversation to me: a shared curiosity about storytelling, and a stubborn love for the craft underneath it.
By day, I work across design and creative direction at Rev Pop, helping shape identities and experiences that feel considered with depth in story. Much of my heart lives in the quieter corners. I write, record, and license music under Spectre Hem, Fever Marlene, and PXNCH — most of it made in a recording studio I built from the ground up, tucked into the wooded backyard of my home just north of the city. There's something about being surrounded by trees, and the coyotes that share our property, that slows everything down — a reminder to let silence and spontaneity drive the work, and to treat them as part of the foundation rather than supporting characters.

Outside of Rev Pop, I run two subsidiary studios: Manifold Printery, a boutique print shop where I get to play with ink and fancy paper, and Super Volta, a studio devoted to photography and film. Big cameras, lenses, lights, and backdrops. Also one of my favorite places to spend time.

Whether I'm developing an identity, composing a song, writing a story, or pulling a print, I show up with curiosity and respect for the process — the slow parts as much as the deliverable. I love everything about being a creative, I'll forever be a work-in-progress. I've been lucky to build a life surrounded by friends and collaborators who feel like both. Thanks for being here. I hope you find something in all of this worth lingering on. As always, I have an open door. Feel free to reach out.
